Welcome to the Women's International Club Mediterranee
Moving to another country is an exhilarating but daunting experience. Today, more and more women leave home and country to spend some
years in a foreign place, with or without a partner. Most women arriving here do so because they want to live in the Languedoc after
many years of hard work elsewhere. Others come with their family to start a new working life. Whether you do it bit by bit, first
during holidays, or in one fell swoop, it always brings many pleasant surprises but also difficulties., some of which you never dreamed
existed. Many newcomers do not speak the language, or at least not sufficiently to have meaningful contact with local people. Regional
accents, customs, rules and regulations often make communication difficult and frustrating.
The opportunity to talk to other women
who are in similar circumstances can be fun, helpful and rewarding, especially if they speak your mother tongue. This is where theWICMcomes in.
The WICM reaches out to women of all ages to come and join us, to spend some time together enjoying the many benefits of
the south, and to help each other deal with the intricacies of living "dans le sud de la France". Our aim is bring together women
of all origins with French women in this area, to offer cultural exchange, friendship and support. Hence our motto:
Our organisation is non-political, non-religious, and non-commercial. We welcome women of all nationalities, race and religions. Most
of our members understand and speak English but we try to conduct meetings in English and French as mush as is possible.
Try us out! You will be very welcome to join us in our next monthly meeting
