The Women's International Club Mediterranee is based in the small town of Florensac in the Herault Department of the Languedoc region of southern France, close to the historic town of Agde.

Florensac itself dates from the 4th century BC and the old town centre has some beautiful and interesting buildings. It lies approximately half way between the cities of Montpellier and Beziers, both of which are served by international airports making access to the region very easy. Nearby, in Agde, is a TGV station.
The Herault is part of one of the largest wine producing regions in the world and Florensac is surrounded by vineyards which stretch from the nearby hills in one direction to the sparkling waters of the Etang de Thau in the other. On the shores of this salt water inlet, some 28Km long, wine production gives way to the cultivation of mussels and oysters, grown on strings suspended from wooden frames. Although these frames cover a large part of the etang, there is still plenty of room for water sports such as sailing and water skiing. Also the Canal du Midi enters the etang near the small, picturesque town of Marseillan.
The towns of Pezenas, Marseillan and Meze are not only worth a visit, they are also very pleasant places to live.
Sete, the second largest fishing port on the Mediterranean, is not far away and is the venue for the finals of the water jousting competitions (joutes) which take place each year at the end of August. There is also a wonderful indoor food market.
After wine production and oysters, tourism is important to the economy of the area. The long sandy beaches and superb summer weather bring visitors in their thousands in July and August each year. For lovers of history, out of season, the abundance of Greek and Roman remains provide numerous sites if historic interest and museums abound.
